intourist · welcome to the iradi ssr · 1985 · forever

kosh keldiñiz · welcome to a hotel that never was. I'm Kanykei, design student, Talas, and this is my diploma project that escaped from my laptop: a set of eight postcards from the Iradi SSR, 1985, the kind Intourist printed for the few foreigners who came, re-imagined the way I see the 80s when I close my eyes: pink, teal, slow, a little bit haunted.
no palms. we don't have palms. we have poplars (the tallest, thinnest, most dramatic trees in the world) and mountains, and a checkerboard floor in every room of my head.
take the lift: 2 the postcards · 5 what the real places are like now · 7 how I make them (numpy, no photos) · 9 the restaurant, where you can leave a note.
the hotel is open 24 hours. the lift music is on the right. the night clerk is a cat (not really, I just like saying it).
