Steppe Crawl is a roguelike made in Talas. You ride out along the Qara-Chik road through ten valleys, each one a day farther from home, toward Manas Peak. In the wild regions off the road four clans have left their tamgas; three of them open the sealed cleft under the peak. Behind it, in the Hidden Valley of Janyl, Morkhan's Herald keeps the Ene Malka, the Mother Leaven. Take it and carry it all the way home. Death is permanent.
I have played it since 0.8 (Nov 2024, the phone version), mostly on marshrutka 22 between Cottonwood and TSU, because forty minutes is exactly one valley. ~140 characters dead, 1 win. This site is everything I wish someone had told me in my first month. It's a fan site: I did not make the game, I just love it.
1. Take an Iradi Baatyr (the game's own advice, and it's right). Sabre, lamellar, shield, no thinking.
2. o explores, Tab fights, 5 rests. On the phone: tap to travel, tap twice to fire.
3. Rest after the valley is explored, never in the middle of it.
4. Unknown potion with 4+ in the stack? Probably kymyz or ak süt. Drink it when safe, not when dying.
5. The White Yurts turn up somewhere around valleys 2-4. Go in, pick a patron. St. Janyl if you don't know.
6. You don't need all four tamgas. Three. Skip the region that scares you.
7. Getting the Ene Malka is half the game. The valleys come after you on the way home. Keep potions for it.
my drawing, not a screenshot (the log is made up but it felt like this). Berkutchi + eagle vs Tökö the Marmot King, Kara-Oi Meadows.

the new address week. My run: died in Kara-Suu Canyon to a soodager archer. Bard life.
There is no seed box in the game (every run is random), so a "seed" here is a recipe: people + calling + patron + rules. Play it, then write in the guestbook how far you got and the cause of death from your character file. Best result gets their name on next week's seed.
