✦ the fanchant (balapan version)
these are not lyrics, these are what WE shout. I don't post the song words here (the words are on the Köch lyrics page, go there, it's official). learn this before the next concert so we sound like one bird and not like a bazaar.
✦ before every song (when the lights go violet):
KA! RA! KUSH! (clap clap clap) ×2
✦ Ak Börü, the intro (the slow komuz, 8 counts): the names, IN THIS ORDER:
A-RUU-KE! · DA-NA! · SAL-TA-NAT! · MEE-RIM! · KA-MI-LA! · BA-LA-PAN!
(the last one is us. we shout our own name. that's allowed.)
✦ Ak Börü, before the chorus: everybody HOWLS. one long one. not a dog. a wolf. practise at home (warn your neighbours)
✦ Ak Börü, the chorus: claw hand up on the beat, like Dana. both hands on the last one
✦ Umay: no shouting in the verses, it's a soft song. phone lights on. in the bridge we say "U-MAY" quietly twice. quietly!!
✦ Morkhan Tünü: stomp, stomp, clap (the frame-drum part). horns hands (index + pinky) on the drop
✦ Talas Moon: it's in English so we shout the English hook back, you know the one. then "TA-LAS!" at the end. it's our city, be loud
✦ words from the song titles (for foreign balapan)
| Ak Börü | white wolf (ak = white, börü = wolf) |
| Ai Jaryk | moonlight (ai = moon, jaryk = light) |
| Kar Kyz | snow girl |
| Kök Tülkü | blue fox (kök = blue, sky-blue, also green for grass, don't ask) |
| Umay | the old mother goddess, of babies and the hearth. my grandmother says Umay Ene and crosses herself in the same sentence |
| Morkhan Tünü | Morkhan's night. Morkhan is the old dark one with the bull horns. it's a SONG, apa |
| Karakush | golden eagle |
| balapan | eaglet, baby bird. us |
✦ my own song for them (I wrote it, it's bad, I love it)
written for the 5th Ak Börü day. Iradi left, English right. not a real Karakush song!! don't put it on the internet as one!!
rhyme scheme: none. my literature teacher read it and said "Bermet." and then nothing. I take it as a yes.
