Средняя школа села Джон-Арык · Chu District · since 1938
Our club meets on Saturdays. We learn the Korean alphabet hangul, songs, and the history of the Koryo-saram, the Soviet Koreans, who were sent from the Far East to Central Asia in 1937. The grandparents of most of our pupils came on those trains.

Our grandmothers speak koryo mal, the old dialect. The teacher from Seoul who visited in 2009 said she understands only half! We try to save the words. Our dictionary of Jon-Aryk words has 340 words now.
Some words: kimchi — in Jon-Aryk we say chimchi. morkovcha — the carrot salad, which is not known in Korea at all!
